The article examines the directions of black currant investigations in All Russian Research Institute of Horticultural Breeding, suggests methods analysis that are applied in black currant selection which allow increasing their efficiency at achieving the preset objectives. It presents thorough analysis of investigations directed to creation of varieties resistant to diseases and infestants with usage of donors of oligogenic resistance and their combination in one genotype. Selection peculiarities of yield increase of the created varieties by combining the basic components of productivity are examined. Also the data on adaptation of modern express methods of determining photosynthetic potential relating to black currant are given. The article shows the use perspectiveness of PCR analysis in black current selection for immunity to gemmaceous mite, assessment of genetic diversity of genofond of clack currant and in development of methods of identification and certification of different varieties.
