Efficiency of selection for a definite composition of fatty acids of a population of spring rape (Brassica napus L.)

Variability of the contents of the most important fatty acids were studied in inbred generations of three genotypes of a population of spring rape. The authors determined the inbred generation, in which the selection for a definite composition of fatty acids may be the most effective. The study demonstrated that selection for a definite composition of fatty acids seems to be feasible, and, probably, most efficient in the I3-I4 during homozygotization of a greater number of alleles responsible for the synthesis of fatty acids in more genotypes.
