Circulation pumps are mechanical devices that are used to create the overpressure required to transport the coolant in heating technologies, as well as in other related technologies. In the circulation pump, the mechanical energy generated by the drive machine - the electric motor-is converted into hydraulic energy consisting of kinetic and static energy. On the heating system pipeline, the circulation pumps are a source of hydraulic energy (positive pressure drop), which is consumed to transport the coolant. During the flow, the heat transfer medium resists the so-called passive resistors, which consist of pressure losses from friction in the pipes and pressure losses due to local resistance. In this article, the authors analyze the effect of the circulation pump on operating costs in an apartment building. Various types of circulation pumps were selected, from the most unfavorable to the optimal.
