The aim of the studies was to determine the effectiveness of the use of probiotic preparation "Olin" and prebiotic preparation "Vetelact" for calves. The research was carried out in the production conditions of LLC "Druzhba" of the Kursk region. To carry out the research four groups of 6 heads in each, one control and three experimental, were formed from newborn calves of Golstein breed. The groups were formed by the method of pairs-analogues. The first control group received the basic diet according to the feeding scheme. The second experimental group, along with the main diet, received probiotic preparation "Olin" for 30 days at a rate of 3 g / head. The third experimental group received prebiotic preparation "Vetelact" for 30 days at a rate of 0.1 ml / kg of body weight. The fourth experimental group received probiotic preparation "Olin" at a rate of 3 g / head and prebiotic preparation "Vetelact" at a rate of 0.1 ml / kg of body weight for 30 days. As a result of the studies, it was found that when "Olin" was used at a dose of 3 g per head per day, beet eating capacity increased by 4.4%, hay eating capacity increased by 20%, and when using "Vetelact" at a dose of 0.1 ml per 1 kg live weight per day beet and hay eating capacity increased by 6.7% and 18.5%, respectively, with the combined use of the above preparations beet and hay eating capacity increased by 4.3% and 20%, respectively. Application of probiotic preparation "Olin" contributed to increase of absolute and average daily increase by 7.8% compared to control group, application of prebiotic preparation "Vetelact" by 4.3%. With the combined use of probiotic "Olin" and prebiotic "Vetelact", growth rates were higher by 8.8%. The relative increase during the growing period in animals of the second experimental group exceeded the indicator of the control group by 3.9%, in animals of the third experimental group exceeded by 2.2%, of the fourth experimental group exceeded by 4.4%. The use of probiotic "Olin" within 30 days after birth allows to reduce the cost of 1 kg of growth by 6.0%, prebiotic "Vetelact" - by 0.9%, the combined use of these drugs - by 4.1%.
