Efficiency of cord blood treatment for transplanting purposes

Resume: The work studied the influence of a complex of ante- and intranatal factors, gender and anthropometric characteristics of a newborn, technological features of collection and processing of PCs on the efficiency of PC leukoconcentration procedure, carried out to reduce the volume of umbilical cord blood for optimal storage in stem cell banks, based on the international standards of the NETCORD system ... It has been shown that the efficiency of the leukoconcentration procedure is optimal when collecting blood during the first 5 minutes after the umbilical cord transection, gestational age from 38 to 40 weeks, “net weight” of the PC sample from 40 to 120 g, and the proportion of anticoagulant in the PC sample from 20 to 40%. Hyperleukocytosis of PC more than 20 x 106 / ml impairs the efficiency of leukoconcentration, while the admixture of normoblasts does not affect the efficiency of leukoconcentration.
