The Save the Children Fund, created in Britain in 1919, became the first charitable European organisation specifically aimed at providing relief to children. The article covers the creation of the Fund, its early years, including relief operations in Soviet Russia during the famine of 1921-1923, and the role of its founder Eglantyne Jebb in the development of philanthropy in post-war Europe.
