Environmental policy under the sign of “trade wars”

The purpose of the chapter is to show the influence of the environmental policy of the national government on the development of the potential for investment attractiveness of the territory, on the one hand. Identify possible strategies for entering foreign markets for companies, on the other hand. To propose areas of cooperation on a global scale to overcome modern challenges and threats of instability, taking into account current trends in the economy. When presenting arguments, we use methods of comparison and expert assessments, based on statistical data from recognized institutions and international organizations, and national centers. The fundamental indicator is the ecological capacity of the territory’s economy (carbon footprint), which is adjusted to take into account damage from air pollution, mortality rates due to man-made impacts, and the Living Planet Index (LPI). The ability to take advantage of a balanced environmental policy is a marker of entry into the market of interest. This analysis is similar in ideology to SWOT or PEST marketing techniques and can be used to adjust all strategic directions for forecasting both the capacity and accessibility of the consumer market. In a post-industrial economy based on new technologies, those national governments that will prioritize the merging of the environmental agenda with the economic and technological ones will benefit. These advantages are attractive to both multinational enterprises and national governments in order to adapt the development strategy of the territory of interest. Its usefulness is in a universal mechanism for tracking the efforts of business entities, since the latter can compete with government institutions, monopolize local markets, and undermine the environmental safety of the region. The most attractive targets for their activities are countries where these issues are not given due attention.
