Ecological and economic advantages of alternative electric power in the Urals and Volga federal districts of Russia

The purpose of the article is to identify the environmental and economic benefits of alternative energy in the Ural and Volga Federal districts of Russia. In calculations the author's indicator of total MI (Material Input) - numbers is used. The material intensity of alternative energy sources of all the regions that are part of the federal districts has been revealed, the volume of the transported substance has been established because of the activity of the alternative electric power industry and the volume of water resources used. Replacing the power capacity of fossil-fueled by alternative energy, allows to significantly reduce the level of negative impact on the environment.
