The article describes a conducted ecotaxonomic analysis of the bird fauna in Buryatia. A total of 438 species belonging to 20 orders, 58 families, and 192 genera have been identified in the territory of the republic. The largest orders are Passeriformes (194 species; 44.3% of the total number of species in Buryatia), Charadriiformes (80; 18.3%), Anseriformes (39; 8.9%), and Falconiformes (37; 8.4%). These four orders account for almost 80% of thespecies. Among the families, the most species-rich are Scolopacidae (39; 8.9%), Muscicapidae (40; 9.1%), Anatidae (39; 8.9%), Accipitridae (27; 6.2%), Fringillidae (25; 5.7%), Sylviidae (24; 5.5%), Emberizidae (22; 5.0%), and Laridae (21; 4.8%). Their combined share constitutes more than half (54.1%) of the regional ornithofauna’s species composition. More than 10 species have been found only in five genera: Turdus - 13, Calidris - 11, Phylloscopus - 11, Anas - 10, Larus - 10. According to the nature of their presence, the ornithofauna consists of 284 (64.7%) breeding species, including 68 (15.5%) resident and 216 (49.2%) migratory breeders, 39 (8.9%) migrants, 8 (1.8%) wintering birds, 105 (23.9%) vagrants, and 2 species (0.5%) with an undetermined status.
