Production of oilseeds and exports of oil and fat products are drivers of growth of the agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation. Currently rapeseed is becoming one of the leading oilseeds. The favorable global situation and active state support for agriculture creates the economic bases for the development of this direction. In the Krasnoyarsk Region, more than 200 agricultural producers are engaged in the cultivation of rapeseed, and the region is the leader in the Russian Federation. The purpose of the paper is to study the main economic indicators and prerequisites for the development of the production of rapeseed. The objectives of the study were to clarify the current indicators of the economic efficiency of the production of rapeseed in the region and the evaluation of economic prospects for its processing. According to the results of the study, it was established that sowing areas under rapeseed from 2016 increase the pace of more than 25 % per year, the yield is 20,5 c / ha, and the maximum is obtained up to 40 c / ha. Rapseed is the highest-in-house agricultural products in the region, and the profitability of its production is at the level of 85 %, but according to individual organizations exceeds 200 %. At the same time, the production of vegetable oil is also increasing in the Krasnoyarsk Region, but there are still few current processing capacity compared to actual and potential production volumes. The restraining growth factor is that the economic efficiency of rapeseed refining is lower than the production of rapeseed.
