The economic effectiveness of the sanctions policies regarding Russian athletes

The article presents the problems of the sanctions policy regarding Russian athletes, evident in the light of the events that followed the doping scandal that occurred in 2015, when Russian track and field athletes were accused of systematic doping. After the incident, a wave of sanctions hit the Russian sports economy. The paper analyzes this situation, examines the problem of the economic effectiveness of the sanctions policy towards Russian athletes and its adverse consequences - a decrease in international reputation and a significant impact on the domestic sports industry.
