The article analyzes the contribution of nuclear energy, including the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, to solving the problems of sustainable development. Economic sustainability implies the most efficient use of resources while minimizing costs, adherence to the principles of lean production, and the development of new technologies. The environmental aspects of sustainable development include the almost complete absence of CO2 emissions during the life cycle of nuclear power plants, as well as the implementation of projects for the management of household waste of various classes. Sustainable development in the social aspect is facilitated by low injury rates, the presence of an open unified system of sectoral regulation of sustainable development. Rosatom State Corporation implements projects in both energy and non-energy areas (nuclear medicine and isotope production, support of the Northern Sea Route) in order to achieve sustainable development goals. On the basis of the study, the authors proposed a project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Primorsky Krai of the Russian Federation. An assessment of the economic, environmental and social effects of the project implementation in the context of sustainable development is given.
