Economic features the establishment of a system food security in Russia at the end XIX -beginning of XXI century

This article has reviewed the main historical milestones in the development of the food safety system of Russia. The authors studied the experience of solving the problem of food supply in pre-revolutionary Russia, which made up the target government assistance and charity. In addition, identified the causes of several famines in the Soviet era, as well as the analysis of statistical data on their economic and social consequences, significantly worsened the demographic situation in the country. Turning to the modern history of Russia showed that the Russian economy faced with import dependence. However, it was noted that Russian agriculture has sufficient reserves for events in the field of import substitution.
