The paper studies the economic structure of the Mordovian tribes in the pre-Mongol and the Golden Horde period. Based on analysis of the thing materials from ancient monuments the author investigates questions of conditions of agriculture, agricultural handicrafts and agricultural home production. He revealed the time of appearance of crafts in the studied region in VIII-XV centuries.
