Economical and organizational nature of franchising

The present paper contains an analysis of existing approaches towards definition of franchising. It is demonstrated that these definitions do not reflect the nature of franchising. A new definition of franchising is proposed. It is demonstrated that franchising includes economic, organizational and institutional aspects. It is demonstrated that the nature of franchising relations generates franchisor’s requirements towards potential franchisees.
