The development of the economy of partially recognized states proceeds in conditions of limited access to solving global issues on the world arena with narrow opportunities to establish contacts with other states. The ways to achieve growth are specific. The study shows how the concepts of economic development and political recognition correlate. The selected territories, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Kosovo possess frozen conflicts, the stability is guaranteed by the presence of a contingent of peacekeeping missions. The same status of partial recognition does not mean the same access to economic development resources. It is concluded that the political weight of partners and their number provide Kosovo with higher level in the international system. The guarantee of the independence of Northern Cyprus only from Turkey actually binds it to the “big brother”, putting it in complete subordination, and giving Turkey monopolistic rights to the territory. The study is focused on the way how having certain partners affects the situation in the partially recognized state itself, an assessment of their basic economic indicators was carried out, successes and failures in the development process of Northern Cyprus and Kosovo were noted.
