The article notes that the successful development of small and medium-sized businesses directly depends on increasing the economic efficiency of their enterprises and the competitiveness of their products. Based on the study of the works of famous scientists and economists, a definition of competition in the context of globalization was formulated. It is proposed to strengthen marketing research in order to achieve sustainable functioning of economic entities and ensure their competitive advantages.
