The article describes the life of the tribes inhabited the Central Yakutia in the Neolithic period. The taiga and lake thermokarst landscape of the area affected the economy of the ancient population. Some traditional forms of livelihood, such as hunting, gathering, fishing, remain relevant to this day. The instruments of labour, discovered in tombs and settlements of that period, allowed researchers to establish the main occupations of the inhabitants: bone and wood craft, pottery, hunting, fowling, fishing (it was sporadic due to the fragility and insufficient frost resistance of the gear).
