Supply-side economics: Contemporary context

The article deals with supply-side economy as part of neoclassical research program and as the basis of the economic policy of the state. Review of the current socio-political discourse on the concept of modern supply-side economics is given. Comparative analysis of supply-side economics and demand-side economics is given. Peculiarities of the traditional supply-side economy are selected and analyzed. Relationship between demand-side economics with (statism) etatism and interests of middle class, and supply-side economy with neoliberal ideology, which serves the interests of global financial capital and global corporations, is shown. The reason why neo-liberal economic policies, based on supply-side economics are sustainable is interpreted within the framework of the debt stock economy. The objective basis of the neo-liberal crisis and the formation of the concept of modern supply-side economy is identified. The main ideas of modern supply-side economy аre recorded and their contradiction is demonstrated. The following conclusion is drawn - to effectively realize the potential of modern supply-side economics in Russia, the relationship between economic policy measures and national interests, which are to ensure economic sovereignty and security, is necessary.
