Economic and investment conditions of the city of Omsk during the period of import substitution

The presented study provides an overview of the economic and socio-demographiс statistical indicators in terms of substantiating the investment potential of the subject of the Russian Federation - the Omsk region and the city of Omsk in terms of import substitution. The authors indicate that, despite the current unfavorable socio-demographic situation, the city of Omsk, as a major industrial and economic center, has sufficient potential for the role of a platform for the development of import substitution programs in a number of important sectors of the economy.Analysis of the statistics and data obtained by the authors showed that, despite a number of factors that negatively affect the socio-demographic and environmental situation in the Omsk region in general and in the city of Omsk in particular, stakeholders (representatives of authorized authorities at various levels and representatives of business -community) manages to ensure the sustainability of industries historically developed in the subject (such as construction, engineering, petrochemistry and the food industry), measures are also being taken to stabilize the migration situation by expanding investments in social infrastructure and housing construction, new platforms for interaction in the field of public -private partnership and development.
