The article provides a perspective on the economic situation in Britain in the70-90s of the 20th century and the implementation of Nigel Lawson’s economicpolicy. The economic and financial reforms prepared and carried out underLawson's leadership made it possible to give a new start for the development ofthe British national economy. The authors of the article point out that the policyof that time was called "Thatcherism" since all the reorganizations of the Britisheconomy took place in the years of the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcherand under her personal leadership. The transformations were quite successfuland, on the whole, significantly changed the British economy. During the yearsof growth of his political career Nigel Lawson held various government posts. Inparliamentary work, he coordinated his tactics with the “backbenchers” to shapethe legislative framework for tax reforms in order to stem the growing tax burdenassociated with inflation
