Ecosystems as a trend of digitalization of the banking sector

This article examines the main trend of digitalization of the banking sector - the creation and development of banking ecosystems. The emergence of the term “ecosystem” and the main approaches to defining the concept of “banking ecosystem” are studied, as well as the reasons for banks to form their own digital ecosystems are specified, and the signs necessary for their successful construction and functioning are identified. Within the framework of the article, three key elements in the structure of the banking ecosystem were identified. Two main types of ecosystems have been identified in the domestic financial market - universal and specialized, developing according to different strategies. Two banks (Tinkoff and Sber), which are leading the evolution of digital banking ecosystems in the Russian market, were considered in more detail. The features of the creation and functioning of these ecosystems are investigated.
