Experimental Study of LAN Cable Parameters

The article offers an analysis of the fixed broadband access technologies. It is shown that two technologies are currently used – FTTB and FTTH (GPON). At the same time, for economic and, in many respects, technical reasons, FTTB technology, in which a LAN cable is used at the subscriber site, is developed much more widely, especially in cities with multi-floor buildings. GPON technology is used mainly in metropolitan, industrialized regions and in the private sector (cottage communities, private houses). The technological features of the production of LAN cables of 5e category are considered, allowing for high and stable electrical parameters. It is shown that when mastering the production of multi-pair LAN cables that meet the requirements of 5e category, it is necessary to pay special attention to compliance with the technological measures of their production at the stage of twisting the cable core from elementary 4-pair bundles. The results of experimental studies of transmission parameters and mutual influence of a 4-pair LAN cable are presented. An analysis of the measurement results of transmission parameters and mutual influence of cables was carried out, indicating that they meet the requirements of GOST R 54429-2011.
