The article is devoted to the revelation of expressive ethnonyms’ role in the creation of a figurative-aesthetic component of our speech and language. The analysis of different views existing in modern Linguistics on expressive ethnonyms makes it possible to state that ethnonyms’ formation is based on semantic derivation and misrepresentation of their structures.
