Electronic criminal case: concept, history, foreign experience, prospects

The article considers the issue of a possible transition from the paper form of criminal proceedings to electronic (digital) and its approbation in certain subjects of the Russian Federation. It is concluded that interdepartmental electronic interaction of participants in criminal proceedings can combine the service of the unified information and analytical support system for the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia (ISOD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia). Based on the study of the opinions of scientists and the analysis of the foreign experience of individual countries (Singapore, Spain, the Azerbaijan and Kyrgyz Republics, the Republic of Kazakhstan), the author’s concept of “electronic criminal case” is proposed, and it is also concluded that it is advisable to introduce the section “Electronic criminal case” into the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.
