The article investigates the use of elements of speech manipulation in the illegal journalism of Decembrists as an effective means of persuasion of the target audience. This aspect deepens the existing ideas about the ideological orientation of uncensored journalism of the Decembrists, and about the development of Russian journalism in the first quarter of the XIX century.
