The article considers energy space of I. Bunin's story "Dark alleys". A complex analysis involving typological, structural, intertextual and synergetic methodologies for artistic system research is tested. The author focuses on studying content and functions of Russian literature allusions, roles of antinomy category in key images structure, processes of symmetry/asymmetry in imagery system as sources and intensification of the story's energy life.
