The article carries out a historical philosophical analysis of the influence of I. Berlin’s ideas on the modern liberal philosophy by case study of the epistemological democracy - an intellectual movement, developing in the framework of the deliberative democracy. Deliberative democracy is considered as a model that arose around the realization of pluralism ideas, while the epistemological democracy is interpreted as a response to the challenge of diversity. The author proves that by making the pluralism the basic assumption, the deliberative democracy (as well as Berlin) goes from substantialism to proceduralism.
