Epistolary heritage of I. S. Palmov (1856-1920), professor of the St. Petersburg theological academy

The article is devoted to the analysis of the epistolary heritage of the outstanding Slavic scholar, professor of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy Ivan Savvich Palmov (1856-1920). The correspondence of the scientist, preserved in various archival funds, has about 300 correspondents. The article gives an overview of archival funds in which letters have survived, as well as a preliminary classification of the scientist’s letters: correspondence with academic colleagues, in particular, with colleagues in teaching and academic activities at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, correspondence with former students and students of Palmov on theological academy, with domestic and foreign learned Slavists, representatives of the clergy, etc. In more detail in the article, Palmov’s correspondence with three important colleagues and mentors of the scientist I. S. Palmov’s communication with these people most vividly reflects his scientific positions, the list of his scientific and social issues that worried him, makes it possible to trace the details of scientific missions, the formation of scientific principles among young scientists, and much more.
