The aesthetic significance of avant-garde music

The article analyzes the aesthetic significance of avant-garde music. The formation of a new paradigm of musical culture began in the second half of the 19th century with post-romantic and modernist innovations of composers. The avant-garde proposed revolutionary principles for organizing the sound environment, which determined a new musical aesthetics. An important characteristic of avant-garde music is a departure from the traditional understanding of melody, which is unable to express the inner experiences of the avant-garde composer.
