Introduction. The problem studied in this article is relevant in the context of the transition to traditional higher education. The changes associated with the transition to distance have shown the necessity of person’s socio-psychological adaptation to the new social conditions of existence, which led to a decrease in motivation for success, unpreparedness to overcome communication barriers. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to determine the stages of readiness formation to overcome communication emotional barriers, and to characterize the psychological prerequisites for the emergence of the considered readiness. Materials and methods. To achieve the goal, we used theoretical research methods: analysis of psychological, pedagogical, sociological, philosophical, social literature on the given problem; analysis, synthesis and systematization of the main approaches; empirical research: experimental psychological diagnostics of emotional barriers in interpersonal communication. The methodological basis of the research is based on the ideas of the theory of cognitive assessment, according to which, when performing an activity, the person evaluates the reason for his/her actions, how effective it is and whether he/she can maintain meaningful interpersonal relationships in the course of this activity. To study the causes of emotional barriers in interpersonal communication, V.V. Boyko's diagnostic method was used. Based on the empirical research, we have obtained scientific and methodological recommendations that contribute to the effectiveness of the process of forming readiness to overcome emotional barriers of communication in the conditions of higher education. In the conditions of gradual formation of the considered readiness, V.A. Klimchuk's internal motivation training (program) was used for the internal motivation developing, which involves basic person’s needs forming. Results. The results of experimental psychological diagnostics of emotional barriers in interpersonal communication indicate an important problem in establishing contact with the environment, namely, the inadequate expression of emotions, which required the development of a step-by-step methodology for forming readiness to overcome communication barriers in changing conditions of the educational space. It is found out that the considered readiness is an attitude to a certain behavior, the mobilization of forces to perform the task. The psychological prerequisites for the emergence of readiness are its understanding, awareness of responsibility, the desire to succeed, determining the sequence and methods of work. It is noted that the motivating means for the readiness formation to overcome emotional barriers of communication is a personality-oriented approach that contributes to the productive solution of the proposed research problem. Discussion and Conclusions. The results of psychological works review on the problem of research showed that in modern social psychology, emotional barriers are understood as internal obstacles that prevent society from performing permitted or even rewarded actions. Among the emotional barriers to interpersonal communication are ones which arise from suffering and based on grief, one caused by irritation and anger, one of the triad complex of fear, shame and guilt, speech and language barriers, ones of negative emotions, and so on. An analysis of the causes of emotional barriers in interpersonal communication of an experimental group of students of Philology was stated, the results of which identified important problems in establishing contact with the environment. In the context of the forming stage, pedagogical conditions providing the success of the adaptation process and overcoming communication barriers are implemented: the introduction of training; internal motivation; the use of special methods to prevent communication barriers and communication techniques which are the theoretical and methodological basis for the given readiness formation.
