The stages of the modern Cossacks revival (by the example of Karachai-Cherkessia)

The given article presents an attempt of the author to make a modest contribution to the research of this cur-rently important scientific subject. The study of the cen-turies-old history of the Cossacks, its emergence and settlement in the North Caucasus, the role of Orthodoxy as the spiritual basis of the Cossacks have been pre-sented in numerous scientific works by the Soviet, mod-ern Russian as well as local experts and researchers. The modern history of the Cossacks, the processes of its re-vival during the Post-Soviet period, particularly in Kara-chai-Cherkessia, in our opinion, are insufficiently studied and systematized.
