Etiopathogenetic aspects of diagnosis and surgical treatment of acute cholangitis and biliary sepsis

According to the literature data, there had been analyzed the modern data on the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis and prevention of acute cholangitis and biliary sepsis. In 8- 42 % of cases, the cause of acute cholangitis is choledocholithiasis. Acute purulent cholangitis and biliary sepsis are different manifestations of infectious and inflammatory process, which occurs locally and systemically. Postoperative mortality ranged from 13 to 60 %. Many questions about pathogenesis, treatment and prevention of these pathological processes are not completely resolved and need further study.
