Ethnographic exhibitions and Siberian Tatar collections in the Tobolsk Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve

The article presents the results of studying the quantitative and qualitative composition ofthe ethnographic collection of Siberian Tatars and the use of objects from this collection in exhibition projects. Siberian Tatars are the indigenous population of Western Siberia, and the Tobolsk District of the Tyumen Region is the main settlement area of the Tobol-Irtysh group of Siberian Tatars. The purpose of the article is to analyze the recent exhibition in the Tobolsk Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve (TIAMZ) on the history and culture of Siberian Tatars, consider the replenishment of the ethnographic collection, and describe the use of this collection in the research and educational projects in TIAMZ over the few recent years. The methods of research are the historical-comparative method, the method of classification and the method of quantitative analysis. The article considers the new ethnographic arrivals to the museum over the five years. For the first time, statistical data from the annual reports of TIAMZ for the latest five years and the museum archival data are introduced into scientific circulation. It has been established that the culture, way of life, and traditions of the Tobol-Irtysh Tatars in the Tyumen region present interest not only for the local population, but also for many thousands of guests and visitors of the museum who come from other cities of Russia and neighboring countries. It is revealed that the main ethnographic collection of the Siberian Tatars has already been formed. In recent decades, the museum has received only solitary items of the material and spiritual culture of this ethnic group. All materials of the ethnographic collection of Siberian Tatars are used in TIAMZ exhibitions, lectures, excursions and workshops on folk crafts in the museum studio. This means that there is a great interest in the culture of this ancient people of the Tobolsk Province.
