Based on the analysis of scientific works and archival materials, the article reconstructs the history of ethnographic study of the Northern indigenous peoples in the Arctic regions of Yakutia in 1960s and 1970s. The author explores the geographical scope and directions of the expeditions, describing the contribution of their members to the collection of information about the history, ethnogenesis, ethnic processes, traditional economy and culture of Dolgan, Evenki, Evens, Yukagirs and Russian Arctic old-timers of Yakutia.
