Ethnocultural characteristic of parameters of social functioning of southern (narym) selkups with alcohol dependence syndrome

We have studied ethnocultural characteristic of parameters of social functioning of men and women with alcohol dependence out of Narym Selkups (n=120) at the age of 18—50 years. Comparison group included 60 male and female patients of Slavonic nationality permanently living on this territory. We have identified substantial regression of level of social, professional and family functioning among Narym Selkups with alcohol dependence. High indices of alcohol-related mortality of patients and prevalence of alcoholism in ethnic group, proneness for suicides, low reproductive function, and isolation in association with commitment of offensive acts, frequent change of cohabitants by female Selkups, isolation of children from parents because of deprivation of parental rights due to alcoholism are typical.
