The article deals with the history and modern everyday life of the Evenks, one of the indigenous peoples of Yakutia. The author focuses on such spheres of their life as their activity in tribal community, education of their children in a nomadic school, material and spiritual culture, ecology and the main features of their interaction with other ethnic, cultural or religious groups.
