Ethnicity and self-consciousness in the context of the ethnic culture of the Mordvinian people

The paper considers the historical prerequisites for the formation of self-consciousness in the context of the folk culture of the Mordvinian people, as well as formation of the ethnos, development of its structural elements, their alteration, and adaptation to changing conditions of the natural and social environment.
