The purpose of the study is to identify the essential elements of the worldview of ethnic groups which are inextricably linked with their culture and the nature of their everyday life reflected in culture. Based on various research, the authors analyze the values of the ethnic group, its sociocultural attitudes, and the peculiarities of world perception and mental characteristics of the worldview as an essential component of ethnic and national culture. In addition, the authors examine the worldview as a result of the cognitive activity of the ethnic group focused on understanding the world around. They investigate various aspects of collective, national consciousness in terms of ethnic culture, in particular in folklore. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the ethnic worldview is considered at two levels: the unconscious level derived from the collective archetypes, myths, mental forms of ethnic consciousness and the logical one achieved in the process of comprehending the surrounding reality by national culture. The practical significance of the study is that the authors highlight the essential elements of national and cultural traditions. It provides an opportunity for their preservation and development as intrinsic social value of national reality.
