Ethnic and social changes in the northern region of Dagestan in the late 20th century and the policy of the highlanders' resettlement to the plain land

The article considers influence of the resettlement policy implemented for the people of the mountain regions of Dagestan in 1950-1980 on the change of the ethnic, social and demographic situation in the following plain Northern areas of the republic: Kizlyar, Nogai, and Tarumovsky ones. The research shows population growth of Avars, Dargins, and Laks in the Northern Dagestan, and reduction of the Russian and Nogai peoples.
