The evolution of DIY practices in the middle of the XX - early XXI centuries

The article considers the stages of the DIY socio-cultural practices development from the middle of XX until the early XXI centuries. The DIY-practices became relevant in the middle of the XX century; they can be divided into material practices (production of objects) and media practices (production of images). The author concludes that the DIY socio-cultural practices evolved from the domination of economic motives in the middle of the XX century to the predominance of creative self-actualization and identity enhancement at the early XXI century.
