Evolution of critical security studies

The article presents the reasons for the emergence of critical approaches to the study of security problems in the field of international relations. The author provides a brief overview of the key approaches, perspectives and concepts that have helped to form the so-called critical security studies as an academic discipline and scientific approach to the study of international relations. New concepts and ideas within the framework of critical research based on the methodology of social constructivism have expanded and deepened the nature and scope of the previously traditional understanding of security, which comes down only to protecting a state from military threats. With new perspectives on the phenomenon of security, the works of critical studies scholars has taken a prominent place in the study of national and international security issues in recent decades.
