Fractures of femoral neck take up a special position in orthopaedic-and-traumatological practice due to severity of injuries and details of anatomic and functional outcomes. When functional method of treatment was widely used, cases of recovery were extremely rare. Achievements in skeletal traction, introduction of plaster cast and combining both methods contributed to improvement of treatment outcomes, however, results of treatment remained to be rather bad. As far as medical science developed and new techniques of fracture treatment appeared, patients' quality of life changed. The work deals with the evolution in the field of treatment of femoral neck fractures. Both transosseous osteosynthesis and endoprosthetics of joints represent an effective surgical tactics of treatment.
