The article discusses the long-term processes of formation of mechanisms of interaction between agriculture in Russia and the world food market. On the basis of the author's concept of the existence of three long cycles in the development of food foreign trade of the Russian Empire, the USSR and the Russian Federation lasting 40-50 years and correlated with long-term cycles of market conditions N. D.Kondratiev, identified and described various options for socio-economic and organizational mechanisms of formation and development of food foreign trade in various types of Russian economy. The evolution of these mechanisms is described. The leading factors of development of competitiveness of agrarian sector of Russia in the world food market in the allocated long-term cycles of development of food foreign trade are shown.
