The article considers the three general models of social development in the philosophy of history: history as a natural process, as an artificial process, and as an emergent process. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the emergent history model. The authors substantiate a thesis that the contemporary philosophy of history is based on the emergent model of the social evolution.
