Evolution of lawyer's legal status in Russia

The article examines the historical trends in the development of the status of a lawyer in Russia, traces the path of its formation from the origins of the emergence of representation in the judicial process to the adoption of modern regulatory legal acts. Both the institution of professional attorneys and private ones are considered, the set of requirements for a person playing the role of a lawyer is analyzed. In addition, the article highlights the difficult relationship between the legal community and the state over time.
