The evolution of reformism in Italy

The article describes the changes in the strategy, structure and nature of the social democratic movements in Italy. Consideration of its evolution begins with the analysis of the reformist ideas of the Italian Communist Party and its transformation first into the Democrats of the Left and then the Democratic Party. The strategy of democratic centralism and the shift of ideological vector in connection with the predominance of the so-called meliorism faction have delivered the benefits as a result of almost twenty years of transformation.
