The article deals with the right of political parties to nominate candidates for election at various levels and their obligation to publish election programmes. The above-mentioned actions are important for the electoral process. The quality of the emerging institution of authority and the level of voter awareness depend on them. In many cases, the candidates that are nominated by parties for elective office prematurely lose their power because of bringing to justice, the loss of trust by the President of Russia or undue failure to comply with the obligation. A party which nominates such candidates is exclusively politically responsible. From this perspective, the author proposes to introduce the legal responsibility of parties for recommending an inappropriate candidate. The article focuses on the lack of legal responsibility of political parties that do not publish their election programmes. This gap should be filled in the legislation as well.
