The yurt-shaped dwelling of the Hun period from Mukhino-2 in the Upper Don region

Бесплатный доступ

The paper reviews two yurt-shaped dwellings found at Mukhino-2 and Ksizovo-19, which are sites of the Hun period in the Upper Don region. These dwellings are permanent half-dugouts round in the plan which have a specific layout and an entry from the eastern side. Such dwellings are not typical of the agricultural population of the Kiev and Chernyakhov cultures. The paper suggests that such yurt-shaped dwellings appeared in relation with the spread of southern cultural elements in the Upper Don region
