On the 90th Anniversary of Bazarova Zhibzema Garmaevna

Bazarova Zhibzema Garmaevna is a materials scientist specializing in the devel- opment of advanced compounds and functional materials within the Russian Academy of Sciences’ priority field, Scientific Foundations for Creating New Materials with Specified Properties and Functions, Including High-Purity and Nanomaterials. She holds the Inventor of the USSR title for her original and effective scientific and engineering solutions to signifi- cant research problems. She is also a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Scientists of Russia Foundation Scholarship (1994–2003) and a recipient of the Russian Federation Government Grant for Leading Scientific Schools (2000–2001). She was one of the founders of the Chemistry Department at the Buryat Branch of Novosi- birsk State University (1992) and the Faculty of Chemistry at Buryat State University (BSU) (1997). She also established and served as the first head of BSU’s Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry (1995–2007) and is a member of the editorial board of the academ- ic journal Bulletin of BSU.
